Job Title: Registered Nurse

Job Setting: Ambleside Nursing Home

Job Location: Weston-Super-Mare

Salary: £13.50 per hour to £15.50 depending on expereince

Purpose Of The Role:

Ensure and promote personal, psychological, social and nursing needs of elderly residents are met on a daily basis. Help promote as much personal and physical independence and choice as possible in the activities of daily living undertaken by the residents.

Help to provide and maintain a stimulating and attractive environment for the residents. Lead, guide and supervise a team of people. To comply with requirement of NMC to keep your PIN number active with no restriction of practice, maintain and update knowledge and skills as required. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Identify care support by establishing personal rapport with residents, family members and liaising with community professionals, to ensure that all appropriate information is gathered to create a package of care.

  • Create, develop, update care plans in Caresys including risk assessments, referrals, dairy and daily records to ensure that a person-centred approach is achieved and maintained. Provide Key Nurse responsibilities.

  • To accept responsibility for ‘Service Lead Roles’ if appropriate to my skills and cascade information to other team members.

  • Receive handover and feedback from previous shift/ handover to next shift.

  • Supervise serving of meals and monitor dietary and hydration requirements, monitor weight recordings, ensuring care plan reflect support required.

  • Undertake drug rounds, safe administration, and management of medicines, supporting medical conditions such as diabetes, stroke, epilepsy, and continence aids such as catheters. Ensure that appropriate medication records are maintained including regular reviews with Doctors.

  • Tour the Nursing Home and observe each resident to maintain their well-being. To report any safe guarding issues to the Manager initially.

  • Ensure a high standard or care is provided at all times

  • Monitor cleaning standards and odour control.

  • Check diary to ensure all events acted upon and record any follow up as required.

  • Lead, supervise, motivate, and manage all care staff.

  • Give feedback to staff on duty and cascade information to maintain effective running of home.

  • Contribute to staff performance reviews and appraisals.

  • Respond to staff feedback and problem areas.

  • Ensure telephone is answered in timely manner, take messages, and answer the door.

  • Show prospective residents and families around home.

  • Respond to visitor’s requests and demands.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding resident’s details.

  • Facilitate inspection by CQC, local authority, environmental health team.

  • Undertake any other duties as required, in order to keeping the Nursing Home running smoothly, as delegated by the Home Manager.

  • Good understanding of care standards and CQC and Authorities regulations.
